Short Description
A boldly humorous reinterpretation of fashion’s ultimate power figure, exploring the intersection where luxury meets mortality. This work transforms the iconic Anna Wintour into a skeletal empress adorned with precious jewels, questioning the true cost of eternal style and power in the fashion world.
Process
Step 1: Initial Concept Development
Started with a 9:16 aspect ratio in Midjourney, which I find optimal for portrait compositions. This ratio consistently produces the most compelling facial portraits in my workflow, allowing me to establish the core concept and composition.
Step 2: Format Optimization
Used Midjourney’s EDIT function to transform the composition to 4:5 ratio – ideal for Instagram format and optimized for focusing on the face and upper body. Repositioned and resized elements to maximize visual impact within the new frame, with additional image areas naturally expanding to fill the composition.
Step 3: Anatomical Refinement
While satisfied with Step 2’s overall result, the skull features appeared too prominent, particularly the nasal cavity. Using selective erasing tools, I repeatedly refined the nose area to reveal human features beneath, achieving the perfect balance between mortality and beauty that defines the piece.
Final Completion:
Addressed the inconsistent black-and-white pattern on the left garment by erasing and harmonizing it with the right side’s aesthetic. The final image was then upscaled using Magnific AI and fine-tuned in Photoshop for professional completion.
This methodical approach allowed me to evolve from initial concept through technical optimization to artistic refinement, ultimately achieving the sophisticated juxtaposition of fashion authority and memento mori symbolism.
