Kinetic Impulse
Short Description
Kinetic Impulse explores the moment when fashion ceases to be clothing and becomes sculpture. Fluid, reflective forms expand beyond the proportions of the human body, wrapping around, extending and partially obscuring the figures that inhabit them. What begins as something wearable gradually develops a presence of its own.
The body is no longer simply dressed. It becomes embedded within a larger structure, sometimes visible only in fragments, sometimes almost completely absorbed by the forms surrounding it. The distinction between garment, accessory, architecture and body begins to dissolve. Instead of defining the silhouette, fashion transforms it into something fluid and unstable.
The polished surfaces suggest metal, glass or liquid matter, yet their continuous curves seem almost organic. They appear to grow, multiply and move around the figures, creating an ambiguity between something constructed and something alive. Their exaggerated scale shifts the balance between wearer and garment: it is no longer clear whether the figure controls the object or the object has begun to take over the figure.
Fashion becomes a second form that can protect, transform, conceal or ultimately dissolve the individual within it. The series reflects on a future in which identity is no longer defined by the boundaries of the physical body, but becomes something mutable: shaped by the structures we create around ourselves and increasingly inseparable from them.
