This project reinterprets hanbok, Korea’s traditional dress, through a contemporary lens by a New York–based Korean designer. The collection centers on the deconstruction of traditional boundaries, layering the inherent silhouettes of hanbok with the structural weight of tweed and bold formal variations to explore new intersections between heritage and contemporary fashion.
Elements that once symbolized status and beauty—such as the Gat, Gache, and Bokjumeoni—are redefined within a modern context. The Gat, historically reserved for men, is reappropriated as a fashion object; the ornate Gache is reimagined as a sculptural headpiece; and the Bokjumeoni is elevated into a refined luxury accent. Together, these reinterpretations reveal the diverse and evolving possibilities of Korean heritage, proposing tradition not as a fixed relic of the past but as a living aesthetic language shaped by the present.
