Bird Cage is a contemporary allegory inspired by Baroque painting and its use of hidden narratives. At first, the scene appears to portray an elegant family: a woman beside a cradle, embraced by her husband. But his gaze is directed past her, toward another woman in the distance. The wife remains connected to the child, while the cage-like structure beneath her dress and the imprisoned bird beside her suggest a life shaped by duty, marriage and social expectation. The image transforms the visual language of historical painting into a modern fashion narrative about desire, betrayal and confinement.
The image was developed through an iterative AI-assisted process, beginning with the narrative and symbolic composition rather than the final visual style. I refined the relationships between the figures, the cradle, the cage structure and the bird so that each element contributed to the story. The final image was then carefully adjusted and upscaled to improve detail, structure and overall coherence.
