Fragile

“Fragile” is a contemporary portrait told in the language of Renaissance dress. The ruff, once a sign of status and craft, is made here from bubble wrap, a material designed to protect and then be thrown away. Worn like couture, it turns packaging into ornament and asks what we consider precious.
A translucent loop frames the gaze. It reads as a lens, a barrier and a piece of jewellery at once. Behind it, the sitter looks out calmly, neither posing nor hiding.
The image plays with contrasts: soft and hard, cheap and luxurious, protected and exposed.
“Fragile” is about care and vulnerability, and about how quickly value shifts when a material changes its context.
