I lie in darkness, my gaze fixed on a house suspended above me: small, sharp, out of reach. It is the invisible weight of care — the domestic responsibility that never fully sets down, shelter and burden in the same gesture. In Man Ray–style solarized black and white, my body surrenders while the house hangs on, like a thought that grants no rest. There is no drama here, only the stillness of carrying what no one sees. A self-portrait.
Starting from a reference self-portrait, I developed the image with AI generation, guiding it toward a Man Ray–inspired solarized black-and-white. Through several iterations I refined the reclining pose, the black void, and the suspended house until the composition became a single, quiet metaphor for the weight of care. The series Metamorfosi extends the idea across four states of the house: crumbling, flooding, burning, shrinking.
