Co-Founder & Member of Curatorial Team at FRMWRK.AI

Dan Cooper

Dan is a UK-based AI creative, curator, and community builder, and one of the co-founders of FRMWRK.AI. Working under the handle dank.xupr, he approaches AI image-making as a director and collaborator, drawing on a background in digital art and photography to explore themes of identity, perception, and cultural hybridity. Alongside his own practice, Dan is an Ambassador and Featured Artist within the wider AI creative community, where he is known for championing craft and intentionality over volume. His work has appeared in and been submitted to a number of respected AI art publications, reflecting a practice that is as invested in the field’s culture as it is in the image itself.

Selection Approach

I will be looking at each piece the way I’d look at something I was about to make myself: what’s the intention behind it, and does the craft serve that intention.

Composition and technical control matter, but technique alone doesn’t win me over. I want to see real originality and a strong sense of individualism, work that feels like it could only have come from that artist. And I’d like to see emotional weight behind it, something that actually holds a feeling rather than just looking good.

  • Is the composition and technical execution strong?
  • Is the idea original, with a clear individual voice behind it?
  • Is there emotional or narrative depth, not just visual polish?
  • Does the piece stay with me after I look away?
The piece that answers yes to all four gets my vote for the Award.
