Short Description
This work is about freeing myself from the expectations and pressures imposed by society.
As I approach the moment of stepping into society, I often find myself wondering:
While we constantly move forward in pursuit of growth, have we forgotten how to embrace ourselves along the way?
The woman in this image is a reflection of myself.
The thorns surrounding her symbolize both wounds and fears—marks left behind by the gaze of others, expectations, comparisons, and judgment. People may see the thorns and perceive her as cold or distant. Yet I see them differently. To me, they are not weapons meant to push others away, but a protective shell built to prevent further pain.
That is why I wanted to embrace her before sending her out into the world.
The tears flowing down her face represent emotions that have been suppressed for far too long. Emerging through the thorns, her face reveals a self that has remained hidden beneath fear and expectation. The thorns that still remain symbolize lingering anxiety and uncertainty, but they also bear witness to the courage required to acknowledge and confront them.
Liberation does not arrive when our wounds disappear.
It begins the moment we stop denying them, stop trying to erase our fears, and learn to accept ourselves as we are.
This work is not about escaping from society.
It is about embracing my wounded self before becoming the person the world expects me to be.
And perhaps, it is not only my story.
Everyone carries their own thorns.
I hope this work encourages others to pause for a moment, look at their own wounds, and ask themselves whether they can find the courage to embrace them as well.
Prompt Logic
Korean female portrait, front view, head to waist. Outwardly strong yet subtly fragile expression, restrained sorrow, silver liquid chrome tears streaming from one eye, reflective metallic droplets tracing down her cheek. Part of face covered in delicate silver chrome thorns and thin metallic threads, organic thorn forms fused with polished chrome. Silver thorns and transparent semi glossy tubes coiling in intricate chaotic structures around figure, catching light with layered depth. Skin partially melting into flowing chrome liquid, metallic fluid streaming from melted areas. Body from neck down formed of liquid chrome, smooth flowing texture, sculptural reflective contours. Cold studio atmosphere, dramatic controlled lighting, iridescent highlights, subtle color glare, soft shadows, pale skin on remaining human areas. High fashion editorial, conceptual fine art, surreal beauty, hyper detailed textures, cinematic composition, slight film grain, minimal background, premium art photography aesthetic.
Process
This work was created using generative AI and then refined in Adobe Photoshop to reconstruct its color palette and overall atmosphere.
The original image featured warm tones and a cinematic film look, reflecting the initial prompt. However, I wanted the woman to appear cold and difficult to approach on the surface, while still conveying a sense of warmth and vulnerability within.
To achieve this contrast, I shifted the overall color palette toward cooler tones. I reduced the warmth of the original image and adjusted the color temperature, saturation, and tonal range around shades of blue and gray to emphasize the woman’s isolation and emotional tension. At the same time, I preserved a subtle warmth in parts of her skin and face so that a trace of humanity could still be felt beneath her cold exterior.
I also made selective adjustments to the brightness and contrast to ensure that the face, tears, and texture of the thorns remained visible and that the viewer’s attention was drawn toward the figure.
This process was not simply a matter of color correction. It was an attempt to visually express the coexistence of coldness and warmth within the character. Rather than using the generated image as it was, I redesigned its color and visual balance to better reflect the emotions and message of the work.
